Horizon

The Bitcoin Marketplace

Overview

Horizon is a trustless Bitcoin marketplace and wallet for minting, listing, and trading Bitcoin-native assets.

I joined the project in December 2024 as Creative Director, leading the brand identity and the design of both the Horizon Market and Wallet. The challenge was to make a complex and fragmented Bitcoin ecosystem feel simple, intuitive, and approachable without compromising its decentralized nature.

I developed the visual identity, design system, and product experience across the marketplace, trading and listings, asset pages, account interface, and minting tools, taking Horizon from its foundations to a launched product.

Branding

The Horizon mark transforms the letter H into a window toward the horizon. Its rising crossbar symbolizes growth, value, and the upward movement of assets, capturing the optimism and momentum of the Bitcoin economy.

The Market

Overview

The challenge was to make the complexity of Bitcoin-native assets feel simple. Creating, listing, and trading these assets requires navigating protocols and technical limitations that weren't originally designed for an NFT-like experience.

I designed the Horizon Market as a bridge between the technology and the user, bringing together asset creation, listings, trading, and ownership into a clear and approachable experience. Each part of the interface was designed to gradually move users from a technical understanding of Bitcoin toward a more intuitive way of interacting with it.

Working on Horizon was both challenging and rewarding. Designing the Market and Wallet required a deep understanding of a rapidly evolving ecosystem, pushing me to learn new concepts and rethink familiar UX patterns in order to make complex technology feel accessible.

The Wallet

Overview

The Horizon Wallet was designed to work alongside the Market, giving users a place to store, send, receive, and sign transactions for their Bitcoin assets.

The challenge was turning technically complex actions into seamless interactions. Working within the limitations of Bitcoin's underlying protocols, I redesigned the existing product into a simpler experience that could support both the Market and the more fundamental tasks of managing digital assets.

Design System

Overview

The design system was built alongside the Market and Wallet, creating a shared visual and functional language across both products.

I developed the system from the ground up, from typography, color, and spacing to components, states, and interaction patterns. Beyond creating consistency, it provided a scalable foundation for evolving Horizon while allowing the complexity of the underlying technology to remain invisible to the user.
